Artist Begüm Gücük's paintings, which she creates in memory of her father, Ambassador Mehmet Tuğrul Gücük, will be exhibited in Germany starting from May 14 with the special invitation of the Berlin Embassy of Turkey.
Asst. Prof. Gücük of the Doğuş University Fine Arts Faculty has opened exhibitions in many cities, including Sophia and Barcelona, and her 5th personal exhibition, "My Dad's Signs," was recently displayed at the Republic of Turkey Foreign Ministry.
Gücük depicts, in chronological order, scenes from the experience of someone's death to the support of their friends. She used various techniques for the exhibition from rapidography pens to acrylic, charcoal and screen printing (serigraphy). Speaking about her work, Gücük says that she kept the colors and figures in her work at a minimal level while turning what she has been going through since her father's death into a chronological visual story. "I symbolized him as a butterfly since I learned firsthand how short life is very closely. We are all undergoing a transformation we have yet to complete," said Gücük.
The opening will take place with the participation of leading names from the political, business and art world in Germany at the Berlin Embassy of Turkey and can be visited until July 1.
