Pera Museum Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation's exhibitions will offer ‘Artist Workshop' for adults to have a chance to create alongside artists at Pera Museum from March 10 to March 30
Pera Museum is organizing workshops for adults with artists from different disciplines within the scope of its education programs. Pera Education is hosting Gökçe İrten, Murat Palta, Gabrielle Reeves, Yasemin Özcan, Çağrı Saray and Ezgi Tok in this respect and at the workshops, inspired by the collection's exhibitions, participants will be able to experiment with various materials and techniques such as ceramic making, watercolors and miniature while exploring concepts such as form, space, image and weights.
The participants in the artist workshops at Pera Education will also get the chance to visit "Intersecting Worlds: Ambassadors and Painters," focusing on the ambassadors and painters of the 18th and 19th century, "Coffee Break: The Adventure of Coffee in Kütahya Tiles and Ceramics," and "Anatolian Weights and Measures," shining a light on 4,00 years trade and science with tour guides.
'Collage at Coffee Break' with Gökçe İrten
The "Collage at Coffee Break" workshop set up for the Coffee Break exhibition starts with a tour of the exhibition. After the chat about form, pattern and sketches with artist Gökçe İrten, participants will draw motifs and patterns with inspiration from the collection. The collages formed of these patterns and other visuals will be transformed into postcards and posters. The "Collage at Coffee Break with Gökçe İrten" workshop will take place on Saturday, March 10.
'Worlds Intersecting at Miniature' with Murat Palta
Inspired by the "Intersecting Worlds: Ambassadors and Painters" collection exhibition, the "Worlds Intersecting at Miniature" workshop focuses on an east-west synthesis. Participants will be painting elements of Western culture, combining them with the contemporary world from the perspective of miniature art with artist Murat Palta. The workshop on Friday, March 16, aims to readdress the formalities of traditional miniature art with contemporary production methods.
'Istanbul with Watercolors' Paintings with Gabrielle Reeves
The "Istanbul with Watercolors" workshop, in which the landscape pictures included in the "Intersecting Worlds" exhibition will be re-examined, is to be held on Saturday, March 17, with artist Gabrielle Reeves. Participants can observe the main drawing and water coloring techniques for creating a modern painting of Istanbul and also experience working with colors.
'A White Page or Empty Plate: Ceramics Workshop' with Yasemin Özcan
Set off from the question, "Can empty plates be the empty white pages we can realize our dreams on?" the "A White Page or Empty Plate: Ceramics Workshop" will offer participants the chance to apply clay shaping techniques they will learn from artist Yasemin Özcan for reinterpreting the works selected from the Kütahya Tiles and Ceramics Collection. Participants will also get to deliberate on how hard it is to write and draw on a blank page, one of the challenges of starting a creative process. The workshop will be held on Friday, March 23.
'Spaces at Right Temperatures' with Çağrı Saray
The workshop based on the "Spaces at Right Temperature" series, implemented by artist Çağrı Saray since 2001, which examines concepts such as personal and public space and the artist's works, will be presented at Pera Museum. The workshop on Saturday, March 24, aims to create a collective production space with participants and include practices specific to the space in question.
'Personal Weights' with Ezgi Tok
Created based on the "Anatolian Weights and Measures" exhibition, the workshop scrutinizes the long journey of weights and measurements from the Middle Bronze Age to today and their relation to today's contemporary art. Accompanied by Ezgi Tok, the workshop is formed of two sections. The first section focuses on the relation of art history with weights and measures while examining the place of image and measurement relation in different media such as painting, printing, installation, video and mapping and the reflection of such relation in today's art. In the second section, participants will create their personal weights and measurement tools by using stones and similar materials. The workshop will be held on Friday, March 30.
