The application process for BASE, which will bring together graduates from all fine arts academies in Turkey, is open until July 1. All candidates graduating in 2017 will meet at BASE after the evaluation of an international board.

With the aim of bringing together new graduates and young artists with the art world, creative industries and media, BASE's main objective is to provide support to young artists when they are taking their first steps in their professional career and to help them accelerate their career path. Focusing on young artists, BASE also has the mission of ensuring that galleries, collectors and creative industries also discover young talents.

There are many leading names from Turkey and the world on the BASE evaluation board, including the founder of London-based Delfina Foundation, Aaron Cezar; Borusan CEO and collector Agah Uğur; ceramic artist Alev Ebuzziya Siesbye; art writer and critic Ahu Antment; collector Aslı Bige; Metropolitan Museum assistant curator in charge of the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey, Clare Davies; Istanbul Modern Exhibition and Programs Director Deborah Harris; Galerist Executive Director Doris Benhlegua; artist Ergin İnan; artist Hera Büyüktaşçıyan; painter Neş'e Erdok; dean of New York Academy of Art, one of the leading postgraduate art institutions in the U.S., Peter Drake; Dusseldorf-based Galerie Voss Director Rudiger Voss; founder of Daire Sanat, Selin Söl; graphic art designer/art director Stephan Bundin; Spot projects founder and collector Tansa Mermerci Ekşioğlu; graphic designer Yeşim Demi; Piartworks founder Yeşim Turanlı and sculptor Ziyatin Nuriev.

The exhibition will be curated by Derya Yücel, who is a curator, art critic, lecturer and a member of the board of directors of the International Art Critics Association (AICA) Turkey.

The venue for the event is also significant, as the Galata Greek School building has hosted many large-scale cultural events within its old and glorious architecture. Seminars, talks with artists and workshops will also be offered to visitors during the four-day event.
