Known for its vivid artistic scene and night life, Istanbul's Kadıköy district is now getting ready for a new arts and dining venue that brings together various musical and theatrical performances with fine dining options
A new entertainment and show center, Taşra Kabare (cabaret), opens its doors on Saturday Oct. 1, starting a new era in Kadıköy, Istanbul. With a restaurant and cabaret for 200 people, the new venue will be a breath of fresh air in Istanbul's dining and entertainment scene, plus, with its blackbox stage and capacity of 120 people, it will become one of the most favored stages in the theater world.
The Taşra Kabare culture and art production center, established by Cemal Toktaş and Nergis Öztürk in 2015 with an arabesque-pop-jazz-Ottoman style structure, now has its own location in Kadıköy. The two-floored cabaret level will marry dining with art and the Sofa Floor to become one of the favored stages of the theater and show business world.
Theater artists Cemal Toktaş and Nergis Öztürk founded Taşra Kabare.
The Cabaret Floor of Taşra Kabare will offer an alternative to Kadıköy's food scene with specialties from German and Turkish cuisine; its cabaret stage will welcome acoustic concerts and cabaret shows, creating a new venue for the entertainment world. Taşra Kabare also has a garden suitable for long conversations with your loved ones, and you can enjoy food and drinks in the stage area, while watching shows on stage.
The Cabaret Floor's concept is based on cabaret venues in France and the U.K. in the 19th century. The floor, which can host 200 people in its garden and stage areas, contains all kinds of comforts and technical details for surprising shows and acoustic concerts with the same comfort you'd feel at home. Decorated with vintage chairs, tables and sofas to reflect the soul and spirit of old cabaret, the Cabaret Floor is equipped with state of the art technologies and lighting systems for high quality live performances.
Music and surprise shows in Kabare Sahne
The Cabaret Floor will host acoustic and live concerts, cabaret and alternative performances on various days of the week. With a concert program that will shape Istanbul's music scene, Kabare Sahne will soon become a favorite venue for music lovers.

The kitchen at Taşra Kabare will draw food lovers and gourmets with its special dishes and tastes from German and Turkish cuisine from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and offer rich Cabaret dishes and a drinks menu after 9 p.m. for guests who do not want to end the night early. The menu prepared by Chef Gülcan Güzel offers soups, salads, schnitzels, meatballs, various fish dishes and pasta dishes from German and Turkish cuisine. The veal and turkey schnitzels are a specialty, plus homemade meatballs and the German homemade pasta Spatzle will become one of the most talked about dishes of the restaurant.
For dessert fans, Kabare Restaurant's surprises are exciting. The dessert menu, which contains Laz pastries, Kaiserschmarrn (Empire's Pancakes) and tiramisu is another reason to visit Taşra Kabare.
The venue's Sofa Floor will be able to host 120 people and will be a new place for Istanbul's theater and performance world, which suffers from a lack of stages. With a state of the art sound system and lighting, there will be plays, film screenings, special parties and other culture, arts and entertainment events at the Sofa Floor throughout the season. Also, you can buy tickets to events to both the Cabaret and Sofa Floors at tasrakabare.com free of additional charges.
