The magazine "Sebilürreşad," which was first published by Mehmet Akif Ersoy and Eşref Edip Fergan in 1908, has been re-published 50 years after its last issue. It was first published under the name of "Sırat-ı Müstakim," however its name was changed to the Turkish expression for "straight road" in 1912. Under the editorship of Ersoy, the magazine also published Ersoy's masterpiece, the Turkish National Anthem and poem "Safahat."After having published articles from important Turkish writers such as Yusuf Akçura, Peyami Safa, Said Halim Paşa, Hasan Basri Çantay, Ahmet Hamdi Akseki, Yahya Kemal and Nurettin Topçu, the publication said farewell to its readers after its 1,007th issue and 40th volume. However, the 1,008th issue and the 41st volume of Sebilürreşad has been published recently with the support of the Ersoy Family.Speaking to an Anadolu Agency (AA) correspondent, the new editor-in-chief of Sebilürreşad, Fatih Baylan, said the magazine will be published on the 14th of every month, but currently it is only delivered to those who subscribe. Stating that the magazine is published in Ottoman Turkish, Arabic and English, Baylan said it will be distributed to many countries, especially to the Arab world. Baylan said the first issue of the magazine was published with 10,000 copies and continued: "Considering the very first issue of the magazine was published with 70,000 copies in 1908, this is a very small number. Considering the population of the time, 70,000 copies is a very high number."
