Competition in pursuit of rising stars of contemporary art

Organized annually by Akbank Sanat and the Association of Painting and Sculpture Museums to support new developments in contemporary art and young and talented artists, the Akbank Contemporary Artists Competition has begun to accept applications from young artists. This year's theme has been set as "Past Future," as the concept of time has long been important for mankind. The artists are asked to question why utopic thinking and the utopic ideas that have been a focus for artists throughout history were lost in time. Through their art works, artists are expected to find answers to some of the most depressing questions of the 21st century. The submitted works will be judged by a jury of veteran artists and critics, and the selected works will be exhibited at Akbank Sanat between May 25 and July 30.The contest is open to third and fourth year students, along with master's and Ph.D. students of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Faculty of Communications, Faculty of Art and Social Sciences and Faculty of Art and Design. The artworks that will be submitted to the contest can be in various art mediums, including painting, photography, video, sculpture, ceramics and installation. The deadline for applications is April 2.
