In addition to being a hot summer vacation stop on the Aegean coast with its turquoise water and refreshing atmosphere, Bodrum also promises to become a center for arts this year with the Bodrum Art Fair from Aug. 15-21 in the district's new fair and congress center located in the village of Konacık. The fair features a rich program covering discussions, gatherings with artists and art lovers, presentations from different art fields and the introduction of young artists. With the intention of raising awareness of contemporary art and its development, the Bodrum Art Fair will soon be an important date in Turkey's arts scene calendar.
The fair is organized in partnership with Artı Fuarcılık and the Art Gallery Owners Foundation and supported by the Bodrum Municipality, the BodrumART Arts and Culture Foundation and the Visual Arts Foundation (GÖRSAV). Aiming to become an established international arts event, the festival is managed by Doğan Paksoy, the president of the Art Gallery Owners Foundation and curated by Denizhan Özer. The fair will gather many prestigious galleries, artists, artworks, critics, collectors and press members.
Bringing cultural and artistic richness together, Bodrum, which regularly hosts numerous famous international artists, has always been a junction point of different cultures and civilizations. The fair will add color to its lively atmosphere. For many years, the district situated in the province of Muğla has been a symbol with its castle, bougainvillea, small coastal villages with clean beaches and white-colored houses with blue windows.
