Museum collects unused glasses for exhibition

This year, Pera Museum's Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation is celebrating its 10th anniversary. As a part of the celebrations, the museum has designed an exclusive art project inviting all Istanbulites to take part. Intended to mirror the dynamic and shimmering surface of the Golden Horn on the façade of the museum's historical building, the project titled "Sea/See/Saw" will enable young Canadian artists Caitlind r. c. Brown and Wayne Garrett to display their latest work on the façade of the museum. The artwork, which is based on luminous effects and seeks to draw attention to recycling, is composed of 10,000 eyeglass lenses gathered both in Turkey and Canada. Istanbulites are invited to donate their eyeglass lenses and become a part of this interactive project until May 29. The installation, which will remain on the façade of the museum for six months, will invite its audience to "re-examine a familiar place with new lenses." The audience will experience the view of the Golden Horn through the illusion on the building in Beyoğlu, and Istanbulites who would like to participate can drop off their eyeglass lenses in Pera Museum.
