Turkic World Culture Neighborhood hosts Nevruz celebrations

Settled in the historic district of Topkapı, the Turkic World Culture Neighborhood, which was established by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Kültür A.Ş., will organize Nevruz celebrations on March 21. According to the statement released by İBB Kültür A.Ş., official Nevruz celebrations will take place at Topkapı Culture Park's amphitheater. Organized by the Governorship of Istanbul, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, International Turkish Culture Organization, Turkic World Municipalities Association, Directorate of Culture and Tourism of Istanbul, Zeytinburnu Municipality and Kültür A.Ş., the program will commence at 10:00 a.m. with fire lighting and the concert by the Ottoman Marching Band. Following the speech on the significance of the day, Motif Folk Dance Training Association, Caucasian-Circassian Association and dance groups from Kyrgyzstan and Karachay will perform their shows. The event will also host the concerts of Kazakstani and Uighur artists and there will be competitions will be on forging iron and egg tapping. Culture Houses, located in Turkic World Culture Neighborhood, which displays the folkloric and ethnic elements of Turkic republics, will be opened for visit after the Nevruz celebrations. Each culture house in the neighborhood represents a different country including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tatarstan, the Northern Cyprus, Bashkortostan and Azerbaijan. Nevruz celebrations mark the beginning of spring for more than 300 million people in diverse ethnic and religious communities across the Middle East, Central and Southwest Asia, and Eastern Europe.
