Tate’s director the guest of ‘Museums Talk’

Istanbul Modern launched a program series in 2012 to establish a new communication platform between leading international museum professionals and audiences in Turkey. The series is continuing in collaboration with the United Kingdom. The "Museums Talk: From the U.K." program series will host Tate Modern's director Chris Dercon today. Since he was appointed as the director of Tate Modern, which is one of the most visited contemporary art museums in the world with 5.5 million annual visitors, Dercon, an art historian, documentary filmmaker and cultural programs producer, has established innovative programs for the museum. During his speech titled "The Future of Museums," he will question the future of art museums, which are constantly in transition. Presenting a unique platform for human encounters, he will consider the museums' potential to become a new type of public space for social play and innovation, facilitating new forms of art, creativity and thinking, where people will look and interact with art as well with each other. Tate Modern, which is one of the four museums within the Tate Group, hosts the U.K.'s national, modern and contemporary collections. The event will start at 7:00 p.m. and it will be held in English; however, simultaneous translation in Turkish will also be available.
