Online film festival garners attention from Turks


Organized by UniFrance Films, the fifth Online French Films Festival will be held until Feb. 16. The online festival features 23 films chosen by a jury chaired by Michel Gondry. The festival's films are available in 13 languages on its official website free of charge. The fifth edition of the festival, which received more than 3,000 hits from its Turkish fans on the opening day, will introduce feature-length films as well as short films released in 2014 to French cinema lovers all around the world. Here are some of the films that will be screened during the festival:Respire Directed by acclaimed French actress Melanie Laurent, "Respire" is one of the 10 feature-length films that will be featured in the "Competition" section of the festival. The film was among the "Critic's Week" selection at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival, and you can access the interview with the director with English subtitles on the festival's website.Guy MoquetOne of the short films that will compete in the festival is director Demis Herenger's "Guy Moquet." The film was featured at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival as part of the "Directors' 15 Days."Plein Soleil (Purple Moon)Directed by Rene Clement, the classic film "Plein Soleil" stars legendary French actor Alain Delon. The restored version of the film will be screened apart from the competition's selections.C'est dur d'etre aime par des cons (It is Hard Being Loved by Jerks)The documentary film by director Daniel Leconte was screened at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival. The documentary focuses on the caricaturists at the satirical French magazine Charlie Hebdo; Philippe Val, the head editor-in-chief of Charlie Hebdo, was summoned to appear before a court because he authorized the reprinting of the infamous 12 Danish caricatures that sparked anger among Muslims around the world.
