The number of private museums under the governance of the Culture and Tourism Ministry in Turkey has increased to 177 in 37 provinces.

According to information received from Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, there are 338 thousand 728 works of art in private museums throughout Turkey and 215 thousand 141 pieces with collectors.

The most private museums in Turkey are in Istanbul with 43. Ankara is second with 34 and Izmir is in the third with 11 private museums.

Turkey's private museums are visited by millions of local and foreign tourists every year.
