A restoration budget of TL 120 million has been put together for the renovation of Parliament's building, which was bombed by coup plotters during the night of an attempted coup on July 15.
It has been also revealed that a "Democracy Road" is planned to be built stretching from the visitor's hall to the exact spot where the bomb fell. Parliament official Salim Uslu told members of the press that a new shelter will be built within the Parliament complex. He said: "Considering the fact that the current shelter in Parliament was built to resist conventional arms, we need to build a new shelter to create a more efficient atmosphere for Parliament and its members to work. An infirmary, press room, TV room and a miniature Parliament will be built under the ground in order for the Parliament to continue functioning if something untoward happens."
Uslu also added that they are currently working on an extensive shelter plan.
