Canada got its first-ever hijab-wearing anchorwoman on Friday.Panamanian-born Ginella Massa wrote on her Facebook page: "This is not just a big deal for me personally-As far as I know, no woman in hijab has ever anchored a major newscast in Canada."

Working for CityNews, Massa filled in as an anchor for the Friday late newscast.

Massa also became the country's first headscarf-wearing TV news reporter in 2015.

CityNews is the news/current affairs division of City, a Canadian network including six metropolitan TV stations as well as a cable service.
