Turkey has become a sanctuary for people escaping from terrorism and violence in the region, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu said on Tuesday, while he underscored that ISIS poses the greatest risk against the Islamic civilization.
Speaking at the 31st Provincial Consultation Meeting with Muftis, Davutoğlu said that Turkey provides shelter for the oppressed, while noting the intellectuals and religious figures in the Islamic world should unite against the devastating image of the Islamic world.
"As an island of stability, Turkey has become a sanctuary for people escaping from terrorism and violence in the region" the Turkish Prime Minister said, adding that Turkey will continue to keep its doors open to Iraqis and Syrians escaping from ISIS violence.
"Today, ISIS poses the greatest risk against the Islamic civilization" Davutoğlu said, adding that the terrorist organization imposes a perverted understanding of Islam to the youth. He noted that it is crucial for religious leaders, intellectuals, politicians and other prominent figures to embrace the youth and protect them from the harms of such terrorist organizations.
Davutoğlu called all muftis throughout Turkey to ensure that the youth are not pulled into terrorist movements by re-constructing a right religious understanding.
