Egypt on Friday recovered 135 artifacts that had been previously smuggled to the U.S. Egypt also expects to receive 235 additional artifacts seized earlier in France. The 135 artifacts arrived on Friday afternoon from Washington, sources at Cairo International Airport said. Receiving the artifacts at the airport were Minister of Antiquities Mamdouh al-Damati and a host of senior ministry officials, sources told AA. Damati said the artifacts had been stolen from Egypt by a network specialized in smuggling Egyptian antiquities to other countries.
