Four Turkish Airlines planes made safe emergency landings Friday when they were struck by lightning soon after they left the Atatürk International Airport in Istanbul.
The planes, en route to Brussels, Thessaloniki, Skopje and Milano landed back safely to the airport after the lightning struck. The passengers were taken back to the terminal to wait for next flights to reach their destinations.
One of the passengers said the lightning struck the plane 10 minutes after the take-off but there was no panic among the passengers and the plane landed safely without any casualties.
