Renowned American Muslim painter and Islamic art and culture enthusiast, Asiye Allman, will open her second solo exhibition, "Modern Islamic Arts Exhibition," sponsored by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Sultan Ahmet Tourism and Investors Association and Turkish Airlines. Her works, which aim to draw the world's attention to the current pressing issues in Muslim countries and their impact, especially on women and children, will be on display from Nov. 7 to Nov. 15 in the courtyard of the Blue Mosque. The artist began reading the Quran after being affected by a friend's accident, and in 1993, she decided to convert to Islam. Allman, who changed her name to Asiye, tries to mirror the spirit of Islam in her paintings. Allman studied Islamic culture in-depth and specialized in modern Islamic painting and poetry, the Ottoman art of tile making and weaving, and her works are highly influenced by Islamic cultures.
